Requesting a Hold

If a book is checked out, you may place a hold on it. You will receive an email when the book is returned, so you can check it out next.

How to request a hold?

  1. Go to the library catalog page listing the book you want.
  2. Click on the "Make a Request" action to the right.
  3. You'll be asked to log into the library catalog.
  4. Choose "hold" from the list of allowed requests.

Hold vs. Recall

If you request a hold, you'll be next in line to check out the book when it is returned. If the book is due back in the next 10 days or you don't need the book right away, requesting a hold is the best option.

If you request a recall, we'll email the person who has the book and ask them to return it sooner. Please place recall requests when you need the book before its return date.
