OU Libraries is Celebrating International Open Access Week!


October 22 - 26, 2018

*Open Access (OA) is free, immediate access to scholarly information online, along with the right to use and reuse that information.

It's our sixth year participating in this event to raise awareness about open access.
OU Libraries will be hosting three events:

Monday, October 22 from 11:30-1:00pm in KL 242
Documentary Screening Party for Paywall: The Business of Scholarship

Join us for a screening of the recently released film by Jason Schmitt, documentary filmmaker and producer, about the biggest players in academic publishing and their role in the move toward open-access scholarship. Reviewed by InSide Higher Learning.

Stories from the Field: Choosing Authentic Journals to Publish Your Work

Presenter: Stephanie Swanberg, Associate Professor, Information Literacy & eLearning Librarian

This session will review best practices for vetting open access journals for publication and feature firsthand accounts from our colleagues who have experienced issues with fake/predatory journals.

Need Data? Discover How to Use ICPSR for Research & Teaching

Presented by: Lynette Hoelter and Linda Detterman, ICPSR

Join us to learn more about the Inter-university Consortium for Political and Social Research (ICPSR) data archive, the kinds of data held, how to access or deposit data, and how ICPSR can help in meeting federal data-sharing requirements as well as with teaching/training. This informal presentation will allow time for individual exploration.
