  Clarineting with the stars

"I have often wondered what many of the works on tonight’s program would “sound like” in motion.  In consultation with my colleagues, I have chosen music that I hope, first and foremost, appeals in some way to all listeners.  Most of these works constitute standard repertoire for the clarinetist, so we also present these pieces, in part, for anyone who has studied clarinet at any level, and has come to appreciate these works as much as I have over the course of my career.  I believe that the highly evocative characteristics of much of this music lend itself well to movement.  I have experienced these works in new ways since embarking on this project, and it is my hope that you will “hear” these in new and different ways this evening."
