From
October 10-12, Oakland University will host scholars
from around the world for the Eighth Annual Dickens Symposium
at Meadow
Brook Hall. This event is sponsored by the Department
of English. Scholars will present papers on a variety
of topics related to Charles Dickens and his novels (schedule
of presentations). The Symposium
is open to the public. Attendees must pay a fee of $60 registration
fee ($35 for students and seniors), and the fee includes
lunch on Saturday. There are several other events taking
place at Oakland Univeristy that have been scheduled to coincide
with and complement the Symposium, including: on Friday,
October 10, at Meadow Brook Art Gallery, the opening
of an
exhibition
of 19th century
photographs of London and
on Saturday, October 11, in Meadow Brook Hall's Christopher
Wren dining room, the Dickens Society Dinner, followed by
a performance of Great Expectations by Oakland University's
Music, Theatre and Dance Department.
