In 1959 Oakland University’s School of Business was a small liberal arts business program in the College of Arts and Sciences. By 1963 it had become a Department of Economics and Business Administration and in 1969 the School of Economics and Management. It changed to its current name, School of Business Administration, in 1983. In 1971 the school launched its first master’s program in business, the Master of Science in Management, which became a Master in Business Administration in 1980. Since then the school has diversified its programs and enrollment. In 1988 it obtained accreditation from AACSB-International. The school has moved several times in its history. Since 2000 it is in Elliott Hall, which received its name from major donors Nancy and Hugh Elliott.
The School of Business Administration collection is a composite collection of materials that have been transferred to Archives over time from the School or found in other collections in the archives. It contains administrative files, curricular and program information, as well as various publications and events announcements and brochures.
