History
OU Chronicles was a project initiated by Paul and Alice Tomboulian to interview people who were significantly involved in the early years at Oakland University. Paul Tomboulian was professor and chair of chemistry, and arrived at Oakland in the Fall of 1959. In 1996-1997 eleven interviews were recorded, and fourteen in the following year. Interviewees included administrators, faculty and seven alumni from the first two classes. The purpose of the Chronicles was to provide insight into the early times, and record the perspectives and personalities of some of the pioneering individuals who built the foundations of the university.
Scope and Contents
The collections consists of the records created by the OU Chronicle organizers, Paul and Alice Tomboulian, and by the Chronicles Advisory Committee before, during and after the recording of interviews. These include meeting minutes, budget drafts, correspondence with Oakland University Administration, and release forms.
