History

After receiving her Ph.D. from Indiana University, Tamara Machmut-Jhashi came to Oakland University in 1997 as an associate professor of art history within the College of Arts and Sciences. In addition to her position as associate professor, Jhashi filled many roles during her time at the university, serving as chair of the Senate Budget Review Committee (SBRC); Secretary of the University Senate; Associate Provost; acting dean of the College of Arts and Sciences; and chair of the Art and Art History department. She specialized in early 20th century Russian art and curated an exhibit of Russian icon paintings at the OU Art Gallery in 2003. She left the university in 2015 after 18 years at OU.

Scope and Contents note

The Tamara M. Jhashi papers consist of documents created, sent, and retained from Tamara M. Jhashi, who served as the administrator of the Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost. Contents within the collection consist of student correspondence; inter-departmental communications and memoranda; emergency policies and procedures; course code and curriculum changes and request; academic affairs and funding documentation; on-campus events and lectures facilitated by university faculty; and faculty sabbatical information. All items were created between 2006 and 2010.
