History
Having received a graduate degree from Harvard, Priscilla Hildum served as the Assistant Director - and later, Director - of the Legal Assistant Program for the Division of Continuing Eduation at Oakland University from 1977 to 1988. During this time, Hildum also served as the assistant director of the University Committee on Undergraduate Instruction (UCUI), starting in 1978. She was elected to serve on the board of the American Association for Paralegal Education in 1983 and served as editor of the university course catalogs in the 1990s. In 1989, Hildum took on the roles of Program Manager for Continuing Education and Self-Study Co-Coordinator, and Assistant to the Provost. Her final position at the university was assistant to the vice president for Academic Affairs from 1997 to 2000.
Priscilla Hildum was married to Donald C. Hildum, with whom she attended graduate school at Harvard. Her husband was among the first faculty members of the university, serving as a student advisor and professor of Psychology from 1961 until his retirement in 1995. Donald passed away less than a year after his retirement on February 5, 1996. Priscilla retired four years later in 2000.
Scope and Contents note
The Priscilla Hildum papers consist of documents created by Priscilla Hildum during her position as assistant to the vice president of Academic Affairs. Contents within the collection predominantly include student correspondence related to commencement ceremonies and course requests; inter-departmental and individual correspondence with university faculty and staff, course request changes; accounting information; and committee meeting minutes. All items were created between 1989 and 1990.
