8. Start your research early
Leaving things for the last minute can make it harder to complete your research on time; for example, if you need an article that we don't own, you'll have to wait up to five days to get it through Interlibrary Loan. The longer you wait, the greater the possibility that a power outage, Internet congestion, or some other factor could leave you in a tough spot.

Also consider the fact that while computers make it possible to obtain large numbers of documents in a short period of time, the human eyes and brain need time to read, think about, and take in the information on the page. Give your brain a break--start your research early!
