Quick Start Searching:

Finding Articles in CINAHL and HealthSource: Nursing

Two medically-oriented databases that our students can use for health research are available via a resource called EBSCOhost. These databases are Health Source: Nursing and CINAHL (Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature). Users can get articles from CINAHL and HealthSource, many of which are available in full-text. The databases have a number of important features that we will cover in this tutorial.

In order to proceed with this exercise it is important for you to identify your topic: what is a good term to describe it? Can it be said in a single word, e.g. education? Or is it better said in a short phrase, e.g. higher education? Or is it better conveyed by two different subjects combined with the word "and," e.g. education and certification? Write down some keywords to search by, remembering what you have learned about keyword searching strategies. If you find an article that is relevant to your topic, be sure to print it out so you can use it for your research.
