  2. Currency Is the page or site current? Maintained regularly?
  3. Relevancy Is the information relevant to your topic?
  4. Accuracy What facts can you check to ensure that the information contained on this website is correct?
  5. Objectivity/Bias Is the information presented objectively? What kind of bias do you think the author(s) of this page may have?
  6. Appropriateness In your opinion, is this site a good source of information? Is it a scholarly source?

Center for Disease Control Part of the Department of Health and Human Services. Website run by the CDC’s National Center for Health Marketing in effort to effect public health issues.  Information for all audiences, healthy living and travel alerts.

Ohio State, Case Western Reserve and University of Cincinnati  non-profit site designed for general public.

Good General Resources - Commerical

WebMD
Leading medical site. Written by medical writers partnering with doctors. Sponsored /Sponsor Influence content Third party funded content listed as – “funded by”.

MedicineNet
An online, healthcare media publishing company. " Nationally recognized, Doctor-Produced by a network of over 70 U.S. Board Certified Physicians.”

Mayo Clinic
Produced by a team of Mayo Clinic clinicians and educators who have broad knowledge of many areas of medicine, occupational health, and disease management and health promotion.


Alternative and Complementary Health

The National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine (NCCAM) is the Federal Government's lead agency for scientific research on the diverse medical and health care systems, practices, and products that are not generally considered part of conventional medicine.

A noncommercial, evidence-based, consumer health and drug information site dedicated to empowering consumers to make informed choices about drugs and treatment options.

Drugs.com
Free accurate and independent advice on more than 24,000 prescpription drugs, over the counter-meds and natural products. Run by New Zealand pharmacists.

DailyMed
Provides high quality information about marketed drugs. This information includes FDA approved labels (package inserts). The National Library of Medicine (NLM) provides this as a public service and does not accept advertisements.

Safe Medications. Com
Run by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists. Includes a Medicine tracker.


Hospital, Nursing Home and Doctor Information

Nursing Home Compare The tool has detailed information about every Medicare and Medicaid-certified nursing home in the country.

Hospital Compare The tool will provide you with information on how well hospitals care for patients with certain medical conditions or surgical procedures, and results from a survey of patients about the quality of care they received during a recent hospital stay.

Both tools are provided by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services along with the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services.
