Primary Library Databases

CINAHL - The Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature is a comprehensive and highly-authoritative database for research in nursing and health sciences.

Medline (via PubMed) is a comprehensive research database covering all area of medicine; it includes thousands of records with substantial abstracts. *Medline available through PubMed is the National Libary of Medicine's freely accessible database and is the industry standard.

Cochrane is a collection of databases that contain evidence for healthcare decision-making. Includes systematic review abstracts, technology assessments, economic evaluations and individual clinical trials.

Alt-Health Watch an database with full text on alternative health care and wellness.

Secondary Library Databases

ERIC is the standard database for resources in education including journal articles from research/scholarly and practitioner literature.

Health Reference Center Academic a database of articles on health sciences, many full text.

Health Source: Nursing/Academic Edition more than 550 scholarly full text journals focusing on many medical disciplines as well as abstracts and indexing for nearly 850 journals.

HealthScience: Sage Full-text includes the full text of 26 journals published by SAGE and participating societies, encompassing over 46,000 articles and up to 129 years of backfiles.

PsycINFO provides access to international literature in psychology and related disciplines such as psychiatry, education, business, medicine, nursing, pharmacology, law, linguistics, and social work.

PILOTS (Published International Literature On Traumatic Stress)

Web of Science is acomprehensive citation index with abstracts to journals in the sciences, including medicine.
