Outreach services focuses on encouraging communication related to topical issues. The library often hosts panel discussions, inviting members of the faculty, student body, university staff and community members to promote an open dialog.

These tools and informational items are intended to help librarians (in Kresge and beyond) create resources that provide alternative, better, or enhanced entry points into library digital resources. Topics covered include: creating persistent links to library catalogs and databases, making new items lists, etc.
The library building is home to several departments and services that are not actually run or administered by the Kresge Library. Most prominent among these services is the Oakland University Writing Center.
