Repair Books
- Circulation/Access Services checks out the books to the REPAIR patron.
- A cart full of items is brought down to TS periodically.
- The items are placed on the gray repair cart next to the processing table.
- In CATALOGING, the item status is changed on each book to DAMAGED and REPAIR is entered into
the Free Text field.
- Depending on the slip inserted into the damaged item, a new label will be made, tape placed
on the spine, tape placed on the pages, necessary parts will be glued, loose pages will be inserted, etc.
- If a new barcode is needed, a cataloger will relink the book.
- Be sure there is an ownership stamp inside the front cover.
- Be sure it has a security tag.
- After the repair, the REPAIR status is removed in the CATALOGING module.
- The item is discharged in the CIRCULATION module.
- The materials are counted before being taken back up to Circulation/Access Services.
- To pull up items checked out to repair, go into the CIRCULATION module and search
either of these two patrons:
OU REPAIR
XXXXXXX756128
or
OU REPAIR DOCUMENTS
XXXXXXX596811
- Renew any if still in TS for any reason, so a LOST ITEM BILL will not be generated.
