ERL to Bingham Conversion Procedure (Dewey)

The Educational Resources Laboratory (ERL) donated withdrawals of both children's books, and also
reference books from their collection, to the Bingham Historical Children's Book Collection. Some of the ERL
donations have Dewey Decimal Call Numbers. This procedure deals only with ERL books, which have Dewey Decimal
Call Numbers.
- Open up Voyager.
- Search the title, of the book in hand, in Voyager
- Verify that the barcode, of the book in hand, matches the barcode on the record, which Voyager brought up.
- On the bibliographic record:
- Delete the 590, which reads "ERL Historical"
- Add a 740, which reads "Bingham Historical Children's Book Collection
- Bring the record up to currently recognized AACR rules
- Delete or change the children's subject headings
- On the MFHD:
- Change the location to "kbks"
- For a Bingham Reference book add "delimiter k CHILD REF."
- Convert the call number from Dewey Decimal to a Bingham call number
- Verify the call number does not duplicate another call number
- Add c.1/2 as necessary
- If other editions of the book exist, rearrange the call numbers to sit
in order on the shelf
- On the item record:
- Change the permanent location to "Bingham"
- Item type is "non-circulating"
- Do not set any statuses
