Direct Loan Counseling Video

Students who are first-time borrowers of a Federal Direct Loan to attend LSSU are required to view an entrance counseling video provided by the federal government. This 15-minute video explains the basic facts about subsidized and unsubsidized Federal Direct Loans along with the student's rights and responsibilities as a borrower. This information will help you understand how to manage your student loan and the commitment that comes with the acceptance of a student loan. Above all, you must realize that student loans are not grants or scholarships; they require repayment.

This video may be viewed in the Kresge Library (hours). The videos are available at the Circulation Desk.

You may also view the entrance counseling tutorial and take a quiz online at http://www.dl.ed.gov/exitcounseling/ecec-main.asp.

Follow the instructions carefully and then fill out a copy of the Rights & Responsibilities Summary page from the Entrance Counseling booklet (The booklet is yours to keep for reference). Once you have finished viewing the video, remove the Rights and Responsibilities Summary page (page 21), sign it and return it to the Office of Financial Aid.
