MINUTES OF THE MEETING
of the
BOARD OF TRUSTEES
October 22, 1959
On motion of Mr. Stevens, seconded by Dr. Smith,
it was voted to approve the budget requests as prepared
by the officers of the University and to authorize them to
forward it to the State Department of Administration. The
appropriation requested is as follows:
Appointments:
Helen Jeanne Desparmet, Lecturer in Foreign
Languages at MSU-O at a salary of $7000 per year effective
September 1, 1960.
Sheldon L. Appleton, Assistant Professor of
Foreign Studies at MSU-O at a salary of $7000 per year effective
September 1, 1960.
Chancellor Varner recommends approval of a request
of the United States Department of Interior to install a stream
gaging station on Galloway Creek on the Michigan State University-Oakland
property. This will be located just below the old deer park
and will not interfere with any long-range development plans
as foreseen at this time.
