MINUTES OF THE MEETING
of the
BOARD OF TRUSTEES
July 22, 1965
Mr. May presented a detailed outline jointly prepared by
him and Mr. Cress recommending proposed terms and conditions
for arranging for the financing of the new dormitory now under
construction at Oakland University.
On motion by Mr. Harlan, seconded by Mr. Stevens, it
was voted to approve this outline in principle and to
authorize Mr. Huff and Mr. May to act for the Board in completing
this financing within certain limits that were agreed upon
- all to be reported to the Board in detail for subsequent
inclusion in the minutes.
Recommendation that the Trustees approve the firm of Harley,
Ellington, Cowin and Stirton, Inc., as the architects for
remodeling the Library at a flat fee of $15,000 for this $252,000
project.
On motion by Mr. Harlan, seconded by Mr. Huff, it was
voted to approve the above recommendation.
It is recommended that the Board of Trustees approve the
detailed budget for Oakland University for 1965-66 as prepared
in accordance with the ground rules previously established
by the Board. The summary of this budget is as follows:

voted to approve the above Oakland University item.
Leave of absence for J. Duncan Sells as Assistant Provost
from August 2, 1965 to August 13, 1965, to study at the University
of Michigan.
Leave of absence for Robert G. Hoopes as Professor and Chairman
of English Department from August 10, 1965 to August 20, 1965,
to teach at Boston University.
Appointment of Abraham A. Davidson as Assistant Professor
of Art at $8,100 effective August 15, 1965.
Appointment of Robert B. Pettengill as Visiting Professor
of Economics at $15,000 effective August 15, 1965.
Appointment of David E. Boddy as Assistant Professor of Engineering
at $8,600, effective August I, 1965.
Appointment of Aharon Kuperman as Instructor of Psychology
at $7,500 effective August 15, 1965.
Appointment of Naomi Long Madgett as Resident Associate in
Education and English at $10,000 ftp ending June 30, 1966.
Change in status of Robert E. Simmons, Associate Professor
and Chairman of Modern Foreign Languages and Literatures,
from a 12-month basis at a salary of $12,750 per year to a
10-month basis at a salary of $10,200 per year, effective
September 1, 1965.
Appointment of Edward L. Buote as Instructor of Modern Foreign
