1. Approval of the Special Meeting Finance Committee items.
On motion by Mr. Huff, seconded by Mr. Nisbet, it was
voted to approve the Special Meeting Finance Committee
items.
2. Chancellor Varner recommends that Oakland University
be authorized to offer Masters programs in Physics, Psychology,
and Systems Engineering effective in the fall of 1966.
On motion by Mr. Stevens, seconded by Dr. Smith, it was
voted to approve the above recommendation.
Resignation of George Cripps, Associate Professor, Music
Department effective August 14, 1966.
Resignation of Lee Braude, Assistant Professor, Sociol. &
Anthr. effective August 14, 1966.
Leave of Absence for Sheldon L. Appleton, Associate Professor,
Political Science effective January 1, 1967 through April
22, 1967, at no pay. Mr. Appleton will study in Taiwan and
Hong Kong.
Leave of Absence for David C. Potter, Assistant Professor,
Political Science effective September 1, 1966 through August
31, 1967, at no pay. Mr. Potter will study and travel in England
and India.
Leave of Absence for Jesse R. Pitts, Professor and Chairman,
Sociol. & Anthr. effective August 15, 1966 through August

Recommendation that Donald D. O'Dowd, Provost of Oakland
University, be given the academic title of Professor of Psychology,
effective July 1, 1966.
Promotion of Richard P. Tucker from Instructor to Assistant
Professor of History and a salary increase from $7,800 to
$8,200 per year on a 10-month basis, effective August 15,
1966.
Change in sabbatical leave dates for Robert C. Hoopes, Professor
and Chairman of English, from a period of one year beginning
September 6, 1966, to a period of one year beginning July
1, 1966.
Report of the death of Irene R. Denne, Secretary at Oakland
University, on May 14, 1966. She was born on December 5, 1912,
and had been employed by the University since August 31, 1959.
At the May meeting of the Trustees additional payments in
the total amount of $117,058.50 were approved for faculty
members teaching the third semester. This amount should now
be corrected to $130,791.
