Finding Articles

Academic OneFile

Good general purpose database, contains articles from a large variety of subject areas. Includes articles from scholarly journals and popular magazines.

CIAO - Columbia International Affairs Online

This is a good source for theory and research in international affairs.

Historical Abstracts

Bibliography of historical literature of the world, except for the US and Canada.

JSTOR

A database of hundreds of full-image journals in a variety of subject areas, including history and anthropology. Coverage of most journals extends back to the journal's first issue (sometimes in the 1800s) up to, but not including the last few years.

Lexis-Nexis

Excellent place to find current newspaper articles. Indexes full-text articles for most major papers. Follow these steps to locate articles or reviews from major papers in the world.

• Under Select Sources select Major World Newspapers
• Enter your search keywords using search connectors
  

PAIS - Public Affairs Information Service

Indexes journal articles, government documents, and research reports.

Social Sciences Abstracts

A good place to search for scholarly articles on countries, their cultures, and politics.

Scholarly Journals vs. Popular Magazines

Take this quickie tutorial if you need a reminder on identifying scholarly or popular periodicals.
