Library Catalog

Library Catalog

Use the catalog to find books we have in the Kresge Library. Also use the catalog to see if we have access to a particular journal title on-line or in print. Books of a particular author's letters, or biographies as found in our collection may provide valuable information as to the location of the author's archival and manuscript collections.

Searching for Manuscript Collections

National Union Catalog of Manuscript Collections (NUCMC) This lists collections around the US of archival materials related to various authors. From the main page, review the middle column which specifically addresses searching for manuscript collections. Then use the RLG Union Catalog to search for entries. The search can take a long time to process, so be patient!

Google your authors name + manuscripts, archives, papers, letters, etc. For example A. R. Ammons papers turns up at least two different manuscript collections.

Bibliographic Management Software

Refworks is a resource which allows OU students to maintain a personal database of all of their research materials. You can:

  • create a database of citations,
  • use the Cite 'n' Write feature to insert references while writing your paper, and
  • generate a bibliography in hundreds of different formats.

Set up an account, and then choose the "export" function in the databases you use for records you want to save.
