Problems
using the library proxy server "Kresge Library Database
Access" from off campus
The
most common problems accessing the library proxy server is
caused by people incorrectly entering their username and
password. Keep in mind:
- The username must be entered as it
appears in your official university records, as reflected
in the SAIL system.
If SAIL lists a student as Johnathan Smith, he must
enter Smith_Johnathan, not Smith_John (etc).
- You
must make sure to separate your last and first names
with an underscore _ character (located between the 0 and
+/= keys on your keyboard, press the dash/underscore key
while holding down the shift key): Smith_Jonathan is correct,
while Smith Jonathan
and Smith-Jonathan will not work.
- Use only the last 5 digits of
your grizzly ID. If your grizzly ID is g00123456 then enter
only 23456, not g00123456 or 00123456 (etc.)
Finally, you must currently be registered
for classes to access the proxy server (or
be a current faculty of staff member). If you are
not currently registered for any classes (if
you are taking a semester off, or are only auditing
classes or completing an incomplete) you will
not be able to use the proxy server. If you have
been barred from registering because of fines/fees/holds
of some sort, you will need to address these
problems before you will be able to access the
proxy server. You can check your current enrollment
status by using the SAIL system. If you are unable to access
the SAIL system,
please contact the Office
of the Registrar.
If you are currently completing an incomplete course, or
are working on Oakland University related research but aren't
enrolled this semester, your faculty advisor may be able
to arrange for you to have temporary access; please have
your faculty advisor contact Louann Stewart, Manager of Access
Services
at 248-370-2496 or lstewart@oakland.edu.
