Naxos
Music Library Problems

You may occasionally be prompted to log in to the Naxos Music
Library (see image). This can occur whether you are on
or off campus, even if you have
already logged in through the library
proxy server (Kresge
Library Database Access). In all confirmed cases, this has
been caused by our university exceeding the maximum number
of simultaneous users. Under our current Naxos subscription,
only 8 people may be using Naxos at the same time. If all eight
users (or "seats")
are already in use, then you will receive this log in message.
If that occurs, try logging back in again later. If the problem
persists, you may need to delete your cookies and try to connect
again (information
on how to delete your internet browser's cookies).
Naxos Music Library has also determined that similar issues
are often caused by related cookie preferences and settings.
Here is a list of instructions they gave for changing cookie/privacy
settings in Internet Explorer that have resolved some connection
issues in the past. Be warned that these are global changes
to your privacy settings, and should only be undertaken
if you understand and accept the implicit privacy implications
of setting your web browser to be more lenient with regards
to cookies (more
about cookies):
Oakland University is subscribed with 8 simultaneous
user spaces. Anyone attempting to connect after all spaces
are occupied should arrive at a white screen with a message
that says, "The maximum number of users
authorized by your institution has been reached. Please
try again later."
If there
are some users who do not see this message, it may just
be because their cookie handling settings are incompatible
with Naxos Music Library. Below are instructions that
you can give to users who need to update their cookie
handling settings (these instructions are for Internet
Explorer).
While you are online, Go to your
Internet "TOOLS" tab
at the top of the page.
Under the TOOLS tab, there is a tab that reads, "INTERNET
OPTIONS". Click on this.
Then, find the tab that reads, "PRIVACY" and
click on it. Then, click on the "ADVANCED" tab.
Here, you will select to "Override automatic cookie
handling". You will also need to select to "Always
allow cookies".
